October 31, 2015 | Cara Daley | Music

Premiered at ADE, Martin Garrix's "Poison" is quintessential main stage EDM as only the young producer could provide.

October 29, 2013 | Cara Daley | Music

This past Friday, amid the sea of Halloween-themed festivities dotting every New Yorker's social calendar, Italian techno overlord Marco Carola began his highly anticipated residency on the dance floor of Marquee's New York branch.

Amsterdam Dance Event sets new records in its eighteenth year

October 21, 2013 | Cara Daley | Music

One day away from the end of arguably the largest week in dance music of the year, we can already confirm this year was bigger and better than its ever been before. It is just as much a festival as it is a conference and networking opportunity for thousands of dance music professionals from around the world -- with 300,000 festival attendees and over 5,000 conference delegates clocking in this year.

October 8, 2013 | Cara Daley | News

And the clubs just keep coming. Less than a year after the closing of its historic branch in Manchester, the Sankeys brand is opening up a post in Manhattan. The new club will be located at 29 West 36th St - a short jaunt from Grand Central Station and Bryant Park in Midtown. The club will boast a Void Incubus sound system and as the press release details, "the world’s first hydraulic LED Grid Matrix system." The opening party will take place on Thursday, October 31st with Reboot, No Regular Play, and My Favorite Robot at the helm. The rest of the weekend will feature headlining sets from Slow Hands, Fur Coat, Tanner Ross, and DJ Sneak.

Four Tet and Burial preview unreleased material on eight hour Rinse FM broadcast

October 8, 2013 | Cara Daley | Music

This past weekend Four Tet took over the radio waves at Rinse FM for a jarring eight hour broadcast (from 9:00pm through 5:00am), and as some may have expected that came with previously unreleased material. We haven't made our way through the full broadcast quite yet, but the surprise that is sticking out like a sore thumb is Four Tet's untitled collaboration with the ever-mysterious Burial. This isn't the first time the producers have put their heads together, and if we're all lucky it won't be their last.

Mia Dora – Clear EP

October 3, 2013 | Cara Daley | Music

Mia Dora is a Scottish production team that, since 2010, has been quietly making moves, developing a sound, and collecting fans at Radio 1. With EP releases both on High Sheen and Jaymo & Andy George's Moda Black label in the last year, Mia Dora are kicking up a little more dust with their latest release, "Clear." The track is essentially a cover of Smokey Robinson's "Cruisin'" (or Huey Lewis to some of you), and it has already reached the much applauded "Essential New Tune" status on Pete Tong's radio show. With substantial remixes from Jaymo & Andy George and DJ T to round out the package, Clear is undoubtedly going to be one of the heavily rotated records of the fall season.

FCL is back on 2020Vision with ‘Holding Our Nick’

October 2, 2013 | Cara Daley | Music

FCL, the team that brought the world "It's You" in its many forms over the course of the last year, has returned to the spotlight with a release package for "Holding Our Nick," out this week on vinyl on 2020Vision Recordings. Like previous releases, FCL shows the beauty in simplicity -- "Holding Our Nick" in its original form focuses on core principles of house music. Sometimes a kick drum, catchy vocal sample, and a square synth is all it really takes to build up a track. The label has only uploaded previews of these tracks for now, but listen to the original below, along with remixes from Locked Groove and Frits Wentink.

Listen to a full stream of Moby’s ‘Innocents’ LP

October 1, 2013 | Cara Daley | Music

Moby's career has been long and legendary both as a producer and DJ, staying relevant for decades of electronic music fads. His most recent full length album Innocents was released yesterday on his own Little Idiot and many of the twelve original tracks on the EP feature collaboration with someone from every corner of the world of music. His work features contributions from Cold Specks, Damien Jurado, The Flaming Lips' Wayne Coyne, Skylar Grey, Inyan Bassey, and Mark Lanegan. Don't expect all of Innocence to translate to the dancefloor, but in no way does that mean it's any less moving.

Dense & Pika to release ‘Colt’ EP on Hotflush

October 1, 2013 | Cara Daley | Music

Although Dense & Pika, the duo made of UK producer Glimpse and Hypercolour co-founder Alex Jones, first made waves releasing a series of white labels on their own Dense & Pika label, they've shot even further into recognition with the help of Scuba's Hotflush label over the course of the last half year.

HARD Day of the Dead releases official trailer

September 30, 2013 | Cara Daley | Music

HARD Events has just released its official trailer for this year's Day of the Dead in Los Angeles, but this trailer is no typical sing-songy festival preview. Gary Richards and his team have instead landed on a film noir spoof where Gaslamp Killer is mass murdering the lineup out of spite. It's cheeky, it's got a handful of cameos from Skrillex, Beni from Jack Beats, Giorgio Moroder, and of course "The Killer" himself. Single day and two day passes are still available at http://www.harddayofthedead.com/ for November 2 and November 3.
