Canadian duo Auk have made their debut on Noah Pred’s Thoughtless Music imprint in memorable fashion. The Berlin transplants take flight with four originals and two remixes on a finely crafted EP that makes their studio strengths and love for analog gear quite clear.

Title track “Absolution” showcases the duo’s ear for minimal melodies and unpredictable atmospheric elements, while “Afraid to Fly” layers a contemplative synth lead over lush pads. “Amelia’s Dream” delights with squealing panned synths and a rambling jazz-influenced bass line, while “Tomorrow Morning” concludes the release with dub delayed elements and a deep bass groove.
