Phonk tastemaker an error occurred, memorable for his sync licenses on Riot Games’ Valiant and trailers for Krafton’s PUBG, returns with an eccentric five-tracker that flexes his penchant for taking what listeners expect and turning that on its head. On the phonk_ep.exe, an error occurred achieves cohesion in an unusual way: By mixing it up.
Each song on the EP uses a different key and tempo, culminating in a fresh, unpredictable, and uncannily complementary collection of tunes that underscore an error occurred’s ear for inventive sounds. “I love the energy of phonk, and I had an incredible experience creating this songs,” says the producer, whose debut album, life is probably a simulation, arrived in the heart of August 2022.
